Agenda

The project's Antitrust Policy, which you can find linked from the LF and project websites. The policy is important where multiple companies, including potential industry competitors, are participating in meetings. Please review and if you have any questions, please contact your company legal counsel. Members of the LF may contact Andrew Updegrove at the firm Gesmer Updegrove LLP, which provides legal counsel to the LF.

Action Items Review

Minutes

SIG Automation

  • Some updates from KubeCon

  • @Istvan Kispal presented proposal for elimination of tasklist and 3-way merge, which took up most of the time

    • Recording worth listening to as this will be a significant improvement

  • Previous week was KubeCon so no meetings were held

  • Bala discussed the user stories, they seem in good shape to go ahead

  • Issue with upstream repos when we changed from revision-based tracking - this is a bug that needs to be fixed

  • there is another issue brought up on “general” which needs further triaging

SIG Network Architecture

  • R5 planning is set in terms of scope and execution

  • No meeting this week due to absences

  • Blueprint for the architecture needs to begin and a roadmap for R6

  • Also need to bring some synergies with the Sylva group

    • @Timo Perala , @Eric Debeau , @Sagar Arora , @Stefan Bjurström should join to discuss

    • The proposal is to set up a meeting in 1 month

    • Many of the same problems are being addressed in both communities so we should aim for some synergies

    • Call to TSC to enable / encourage participation

    • We will fix up a date in the next SIG NW Arch meeting

SIG Release

  • no update

SIG Security

  • No update

Other updates

  • Deprecation / removal of Free5GC

    • We are using an out-dated version of this workload and it has not been updated since R1

    • No-one is maintaining it

    • There is limited / no support from the community

    • We have no capacity in Nephio to maintain it

    • Planned features for R5 will only be implemented on OAI

    • There is a poll for this here: https://github.com/nephio-project/nephio/discussions/891

    • Disadvantages of taking this approach:

      • We will implicitly couple ourselves to OAI if we do not maintain multiple workloads in Nephio

      • there are changes coming in core specifications in the future that will need to be verified across multiple “vendors”

    • Options:

      • Continue to maintain the workload as a going concern

      • break out the code to a standalone repo and mark as deprecated / out-of-date, and ask for community engagement to uplift it

      • Formally deprecate / remove (with a timeline - e.g. a 6-month / two release window for people to step up)

@balaji varadaraju and @Fiachra Corcoran will bring an action item to next TSC

Getting Started Guide

  • There is a new “Getting Started” guide along with a Q&A for people joining the community

    • A lot of the information is generic

    • Please review, and provide feedback

Transition to Zulip

  • Community feedback required by end of April - LF are in negotiations with Zulip as a complete alternative to Slack

Governing Board

  • Next governing board meeting is on the 2025-05-07

    • TSC chairs are invited to present with any issues

    • If there are any issues please send on to @Sana Tariq to include in the material before 2025-04-25

OAI Workshop

  • 21st-22nd of May, Ericsson site in Kista, Stockholm

  • O-RAN community will be doing some demos

  • There is also an OSFG workshop in the same place on May 23rd where O-RAN related use cases can be discussed there - reach out to @Sagar Arora to include anything in the agenda
