Overview

Nephio Transport Network (WG7) is an open initiative within the Nephio project aimed at automating the management of transport networks for modern 5G and private network solutions (Private 5G). The goal of the project is to create a platform that simplifies the design, deployment, and management of transport networks using declarative approaches and modern automation technologies.

Transport networks play a critical role in ensuring connectivity between Base Stations (RAN) and the Core Network. Nephio Transport Network enables operators to efficiently manage network resources, ensure high availability and performance, and adapt to new business models, such as offering network capacity to third-party companies.

The Nephio community is actively looking for new contributors, including network operators, vendors, and startups, to collaborate on developing open solutions and promoting their adoption.

Joining the project provides an opportunity to participate in the Transport Network Working Group (WG7), where real-world use cases are discussed, standards are created, and APIs for automation are developed.
