Infrastructure Automation

Presented by Sandeep Sharma, Amar Kapadia

Nephio is an intent-driven cloud-native automation platform which can automate the Infrastructure, workload and day N configuration of the workloads.

In this topic, we will explore how Nephio can be used to perform the following,

  • Create Kubernetes clusters in the cloud provider platform of your choice.
  • Specify basic properties of the cluster like regions/zones, cluster size, etc., using high-level intent.
  • Continuous reconciliation of the Infrastructure intent specified by the user.
  • Preparation of the cluster for workload automation.

Leveraging EMCO Code to Accelerate Nephio

Presented by Amar Kapadia, Sandeep Sharma, Nadathur Sundar, Piotr Matysiak

EMCO has broken new ground with a number of innovations. However, it is in maintenance mode. In this session we want to explore if any of the code can be used to accelerate Nephio. Some ideas are:

  • Placement controller
  • Istio controller
  • HPA (hardware placement awareness) controller
  • Temporal workflow controller
  • Helm parsing

Configuration Management

Presented by Sandeep Sharma, Vivekanandan Muthukrishnan

In this presentation we will go over the following,

  • A controller(or multiple controllers) to serve declarative API for PNF configuration and management.
    • Controller will create PNF device CRs, which define the PNF, its properties and connectivity information.
  • CRD definition for PNF configuration, this will be the PNF configuration intent.
  • PNF configuration(data) management.
    • Vendor releases/updates configuration data, example yang models to the Nephio PNF catalog repo.
    • Continuous reconciliation of the configuration data in all the sites. Leverage the existing tools i.e porch, configSync etc.
  • Support for different protocols i.e NETCONF, RESTCONF.
  • PNF configuration discovery to support Plug and play of PNFs.
